The proposed measures have not yet been put into practice, and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada plans to hold further consultations before finalizing its position.Canada’s privacy commissioner thinks you should have the right to ask that inaccurate, incomplete or outdated information appearing in search engines be either amended or removed — and that under Canadian law, internet companies should have to comply.

Discussion

1) Search engines are searching information from websites that they have no control over at all in almost all cases.  Why should the search engine company be held accountable here?

2) How might a search engine company alter search once they have been alerted of an issue that must be fixed under this law?
