DON’T CALL IT a comeback, but Microsoft’s database software may be seeing a resurgence. According to research conducted by the Austrian consulting company Solid IT, Microsoft SQL Server’s popularity grew faster than any other database product the company tracked on its DB-Engines site during 2016.

1) You might think databases are not a very interesting topic.  But before you dismiss them, list off all the databases you have used or have been used by other companies who you have dealt with, just today.  You should include Facebook, Amazon, ESPN and other websites you visit who will have tracked you and recorded what you did and for how long in their databases.

2) The key here seems to be that ” open source software that helped drive more adoption of Microsoft SQL Server in 2016″.  What does this mean?
