Canadian technology company Netsweeper helped the Bahraini government block opposition party websites, various news websites and content critical of Islam, according to a new report by the Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs.

Discussion

1) The article says that Netsweeper is” raising the alarm because they found that the country is blocking access to a long list of websites that are critical of the government.”  Why does a Candian company need to “raise the alarm” about another Canadian company legally helping a foreign government?

2) Does government censorship of internet sites even work?
