An almighty row has broken out over who should have access to all the data new cars generate.  Manufacturers want to have control of it all, but independent repair shops, fleet operators, insurance companies and anyone else who could benefit from this data, argue that this would be blatantly anti-competitive.

1) It is easy to see why car manufacturers want control of all the data your car is generating, but this is your car. Shouldn’t you have total control of all data generated by your car?

2) How much control of your data would you give up to reduce the rates of things like car insurance?
